Llanbedr Court

Llanbedr Court

Llanbedr Court is a purpose built low secure hospital which opened in 2004 and has undergone a complete refurbishment in 2008/9.

Set in beautiful countryside but with good access to urban amenities, Llanbedr Court is very easily accessible from the M4 or M50 motorways, close to Newport and with good public transport links by bus or rail.

Llanbedr Court has 35 beds organised into 3 single gender units based on clinical need. This includes:

  • An eleven bedded elderly mentally infirm unit (mental illness, dementias, challenging behaviour)
  • Nine bedded male unit (mental illness with degenerative neurological conditions and/or complex physical health needs)
  • Ten female beds (Personality Disorder, Offending Behaviour and/or severe and enduring mental illness)
  • Five female high dependency beds

Llanbedr has its own extensive grounds and recreational and therapeutic facilities. Our newly refurbished communal living spaces on each unit are bright, light and airy with access into secure gardens with dedicated smoking areas. Kitchen facilities are provided in each dining room area so that patients can develop daily living skills through the preparation of their own snacks and drinks. All patients have their own bedrooms which can be individualised according to preferences and interests.

The Horticultural Centre offers activity sessions for gardening, woodwork and design. Patients are also involved in the care of chickens, ducks and egg collection.
Our lovely grounds also offer opportunities for bird watching, photography and other hobbies.

Therapy facilities are available for psychology groups, individual counselling and psychotherapy, physiotherapy treatment sessions, speech and language, occupational therapy activities, including arts and crafts, IT, education and an OT rehabilitation kitchen.

Llanbedr Court promotes integration and social inclusion within the local community in order to facilitate recovery. Patients are able to attend local college courses, pursue leisure interests and access work related opportunities leading to the development of independent life skills.

Llanbedr Court offers the physical, relational and procedural security required for low secure services and complies with the Department of Health Best Practice Guidance.
