Westminster Court is highly thought of amongst clients, their families and commissioners. The home really does give a sense of independence in its two separate flats, each accommodating two people.
It is set in a very pleasant community area on the outskirts of Cardiff, giving it the ability to facilitate community inclusion, citizenship and independence with excellent links to local facilities including libraries, shops, banks, cafes, colleges and leisure centres.
Although Westminster Court has its own transport, it also benefits from excellent transport links into Cardiff and beyond, just a short walk away.
Like our other learning disability services, Westminster Court is based on the Recovery Model, which we believe is about moving beyond the diagnosis of a learning disability.
At Westminster Court MDT working and positive behavioural management plans are offered to all of our clients.
The staff team are very experienced and skilled in working with women with personality disorder and learning disabilities and are able to support them in using an adapted DBT model. Staff are also able to support clients to generalise and maintain other therapeutic skills and in-particular are able to support those with complex physical and psychological needs.
In addition to the two flats there is a separate one bedroom flat, which is ideal for someone to further develop their skills and independence prior to moving into their own home or another supported living model.
